Evangelist Kassema Jones & Founder

Established in 2012, by a long burning desire to give something back to the community I lived in and to hopefully leave a meaningful imprint on someone’s life, KJ’s House of Refuge burst into creation.

Born on July 27, 1964, I am a native of Newark, NJ and was raised in East Orange, NJ. I am the loving wife of Earl F. Jones, and a proud mother of four daughters; Al-Nesha Jones-Petite, Shade Jones, Kassema Jones-Waller and Shanta Jones. I have five grandchildren; Miyanna Pinkney, Eli’sha Petite, Jr., Kasim Waller, Savannah Petite and Ava Petite. I have also been blessed with two son-in-laws; Eli’sha Petite, Sr. and Jeffrey Waller.

In August 1992, upon joining New Hope Baptist Church located at 106 Sussex Avenue in Newark, NJ, I was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Joe A. Carter. It was there that I received my Christian Bible Training with Reverend Lula A. Baker. In 2004, God blessed my family to relocate to Mount Pocono, PA. At the time, I had no idea that this move would play such a crucial role in my spiritual growth, but as my favorite scripture states, God had a plan.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declared the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

From 2006 to 2007, I attended Full Gospel Holiness Church under leadership of Pastor Leanon Trawick which gave me several opportunities to further my Christian Education. From there until 2012, while under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Peggy H. Jones, Th.D., Ph.D., I attended Miracle Temple of Christ Ministries in Marshalls Creek, PA and furthered my Christian education at Lighthouse Christian College.

Over the course of that time, I hit the following milestones:

August 1, 2009 – Associate of Biblical Studies
March 21, 2011 – Bachelor of Theology
August 1, 2011 – Licensed Evangelist, and preached my trial sermon
August 11, 2012 – Master of Divinity

In May 2013 I joined Reborn Church of God under the leadership of Overseer Evett Simmons, where I am a faithful member and receive spiritual guidance.

My joy is to serve in the house of God. I enjoy assisting others and I know that God has called me for this purpose and to preach the word of God. I want to always be steadfast, unmovable, and abounding in the word of God. I am truly committed to the work of edifying the body of Christ and helping to reach those that are lost. I also believe that whom God has predestined, He has also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. “And we know all things work together for the good of those that love God, and are called according to His purpose.”

Now as I embrace the charge of Pastor, I understand that I have a charge to keep and a God to glorify. I am a Baptized believer who must make a difference. My assignment is Matthew 28:19-20: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
